Congratulations to owner Rachel Carico on the birth of this handome colt... You can see how happy Rachel is... enjoy your sweet boy Rachel!
* The Pearl Gene is known to be carried by the Barlink Horses, Rachels colt received one dilute gene from the dam, being palomino, and one pearl gene from the sire, Mighty Clue, (which is thrown randomly)
At birth this colts eyes appear blue and can range from blue to green. He will have a pale palomino coloring that is similar to a cremello and has a shimmery champagne hue but not a champagne. If used as a stallion, he will only throw either the pearl gene or the cream gene, resulting in dark golden palominos or a pearl carrier.
ABOUT THE PEARL GENE
FROM WWW.HOMOZYGOUS-HORSES.COM
The Latest News. The NEWEST dilution gene discovered is now officially named "PEARL", whether it occurs in horses descended from My Tontime (granddam of Barlink Macho Man), or Spanish (Andalusions, Lusitanos, or Paso) horses. The Pearl Gene is a Recessive, cream-activated, dilution gene. Recessive means that one copy of the gene in a horse has no expression (is invisible) and two copies (homozygous) results in full expression (in the case of the Pearl gene, it dilutes the base color once) Cream-activated means that it also reacts with cream: it shows up, adding another instance of dilution, if there is a cream gene present. In this case it manifests as a "double dilution": Pearl and Cream.
FROM THE UC DAVIS WEBSITE:
http://www.vgl.ucdavis.edu/services/horse/pearl.php
Horses have four common coat color dilution genes with defined phenotypes: Cream, Dun, Silver and Champagne. Two rare dilution phenotypes have been recognized in Quarter Horses and Spanish horse breeds such as Andalusians and Lusitanos. In Spanish horses, this dilution is known as Pearl. In Quarter Horses and Paints, it has been commonly known as "Barlink Factor". The two dilutions have been assumed to be different. Research at the Veterinary Genetics Laboratory (VGL) on the Quarter Horses/Paints identified a mutation associated with the "Barlink Factor" dilution. Further research has shown that the same mutation is present in Spanish horses with the Pearl phenotype. The presence of this mutation in Quarter Horses and Paints likely reflects the Spanish horse ancestry of these modern breeds. To recognize that this mutation probably originated in Spanish horses, it is appropriate to name it Pearl.
Pearl behaves as a recessive gene with respect to the hair color. One dose of the mutation does not change the coat color of black, bay or chestnut horses. Two doses on a chestnut background produce a pale, uniform apricot color of body hair, mane and tail. Skin coloration is also pale. Pearl is known to interact with Cream dilution to produce pseudo-double Cream dilute phenotypes including pale skin and blue/green eyes.

Congratulations to owner Carol Schneider on the birth of this gorgeous colt... her second double pearl with this cross. She has a beautiful mare that we feature on Mighty Clue's add on his page that is a full sibling.
*Double Pearl is not a palomino it is from two sorrel horses. The Gene is known to be carried by the Barlink Horses, Carols mare is a double pearl exhibiting the yellow color, both her parents are sorrel. She will always throw one pearl gene. Mighty Clue carries one pearl gene and happened to throw it both times with this cross, creating a double pearl foal which is colored like this!
